NCSC-8081 Quantum
Computation Note: The following provides a suggested course description, objectives, and an outline. These may be modified pending discussion with the Faculty Chairs, proposing faculty, and other curriculum reviewers. Course Description: Quantum computing deals with how to use the principles of quantum physics (related to multiple states, entanglement, coherence, etc.) to perform certain types of calculations much more efficiently than a classical computer that is based on binary switching devices. This course introduces the concepts of quantum computing and the theory of quantum information. Topics include efficient quantum algorithms, fault-tolerant quantum computing, quantum error-correcting codes, security of quantum information processing, and possible physical implemenations of quantum computers.
